The New York Rangers narrowly defeated the Central Division-leading Dallas Stars 3-1 on Tuesday night. New York has now won eight consecutive games.
Igor Shesterkin was the star of the show tonight making 41 saves to pick up the win. Scott Wedgewood was the losing the goaltender making 23 saves on 25 shots faced.

The Rangers got the game's only first period goal. Ryan Lindgren let a shot go from the blue line that missed the mark, but Artemi Panarin collected the rebound. Panarin gave it back to Adam Fox at the blue line, who ripped the puck by Wedgewood to give New York a 1-0 lead.
Fox's goal and Panarin's assist continue their white-hot play over the last three games; both have a goal and six assists in that span. Ryan Lindgren also has three assists in as many games.
The Stars outshot the Rangers 9-6 in the opening frame.
The Rangers added another goal in the first half of the second period on a four-on-four situation. K'Andre Miller reversed to Erik Gustafsson with the Rangers looking for a shot. From the high slot, Gustafsson went to Kaapo Kakko on the left side, giving him room to wire a shot past Wedgewood to pad the lead at 8:23 of the frame.
Kaako extended his point streak to five games, totaling two goals and three assists in that span. His goal stood to be the game-winner.
However, the two-goal lead was brief, as Dallas cut the lead in half less than a minute later. The Stars won a battle along the right-wing boards, giving Joe Pavelski a shot from the right dot. Igor Shesterkin made the inital save, but Jamie Benn passed the puck to Miro Heiskanen driving down the left side. The defenseman made no mistake on the shot, potting his seventh of the year to make it 2-1 at 9:10.
Both teams tallied 14 shots in the frame, but New York made all six turnovers in the period.
With 6:03 remaining in the game, Shesterkin made his best stop of the night as he stoned Benn in front. A great one-timed shot from Benn right in the slot was denied, preserving the 2-1 Ranger lead.
Tyler Seguin had a wide open net after receiving a perfect pass in the crease and Shesterkin did it again with 4:18 on the clock. This time Shesterkin used his stick to block the empty cage, and somehow kept the puck out of the net.
With 1:41 left in the game, Kreider tapped it off to Trocheck who buried the puck into the empty net from the center line. Zibanejad was credited with the secondary assist. Trocheck now has goals in back-to-back games.
