The New York Rangers lost to the Dallas Stars 6-3 in a subpar effort against one of the best of the west.
The New York Rangers lost their first regulation contest in a month last night in Dallas, Texas.
Lafsanity: Alexis Lafreniere's play looked like his World Juniors mixtape on NHL ice. He registered 5 shots in the first period. Although the 22-year-old didn't mark the score sheet, his transition game, possession dominance, speed, and shot selection continue to reach new levels.
Be-Aggressive: The Rangers surrendered 2 goals in one minute of play in the third period. Peter Laviolette challenged the second goal for goaltender interference. He then pulled Igor Shesterking with 3:30 remaining in the contest. The aggressive approach was not previously seen and was worth the risk as the team wasn't as sharp last night.
Streaky Deaky: Artemi Panarin's monster 15-game record-setting point streak came to an end. Kaapo Kakko recorded his first goal and point in 10 games. Vincent Trocheck and Erik Gustafsson extended their point streaks to 6 games.
Minus Mika: Mika Zibanejad has only recorded 2 goals this season. Last night the club 1C and linemate Chris Kreider had several quality scoring chances but couldn't finish. Kaapo Kakko and Blake Wheeler haven't lived up to their billing, but those two are complementary wingers to cornerstone players who are not lighting the lamp. Will they shuffle the deck to get Zibanejad and Kreider going?
