The New York Rangers aren't out of the running for Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko according to ESPN's Greg Wyshynski.

Greg Wyshynski, the ESPN Senior NHL Writer put out a story last week about how Patrick Kane has been navigating this summer as a free agent.

The Kane and Tarasenko experiment didn't go as well as the Rangers would have liked this past season, but that doesn't necessarily mean it can't work for the 2023-24 NHL season.

Kane's situation is more straightforward as we currently stand since his main focus this summer is to focus on his rehab after having hip surgery at the conclusion of the season.

Tarasenko's free agency situation appears to be a tad more interesting.

We had the pleasure of having Wyshynski join us on the Blue Crew Podcast to discuss in further detail where he expects Kane and Tarasenko to end up.

That clip is below:

The Rangers don't necessarily need both Kane and Tarasenko, but if they had the ability to bring back one of the two free agents, it would certainly make their roster a bit more dangerous up front.

This is how the Daily Faceoff has constructed the Rangers' current group of forwards.

Let's add Kane and Tarasenko to the mix and this is how I would personally like to see the lineup:

Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Tarasenko/Kane
Panarin-Chytil-Kakko
Kreider-Trocheck-Wheeler
Goodrow-Bonino-Vesey

I don't think anyone would be angry having a third line that consists of Chris Kreider, Vincent Trocheck, and Blake Wheeler. Obviously having Kreider move down the lineup could be a controversial opinion, but in my mind the most important thing for the team this coming season is to get the most out of Alexis Lafreniere.

Once the Rangers roster is set, it will be easier to come up with line combinations, but if they are able to bring back either Kane or Tarasenko, it makes this roster much deeper.
