The title says a lot: "Game Winners – The Greatest Game-Winning Goals In Hockey History."

Sportswriters Matthew Blitner and Russ Cohen are the double-play author-combo on this stickhandling gem.

This pair of authors know their onions and their hockey history. Together, they've amassed 50 superior games with Rangers thriller-dillers sprinkled throughout. Plus  some "Honorable Mentions," which are just as good as an extra added attraction.

One of my favorites was No 44 "Pete Stemkowski Wins Triple Overtime Thriller." That took place on April 29 1971. Game Six, Black Hawks-Rangers Semi-Final at The Garden.

I loved that game for the excitement and the fact that my wife, Shirley, was here with me from the start to long sudden-death finish.

What I like about this most entertaining volume is that each of the authors does a personal "Analysis" at the end of each chapter.

Here are their separate openers of the "Analysis."

COHEN: "The goal gets a five-out-of-five because of the energy it took to get the puck in the net four hours and 23 minutes after the game started."

BLITTNER: "Stemkowski's goal stands as a testament to how clutch of a goal scorer he was."

P.S. The beauty part is that Stemmer, himself, wrote the book's Foreword. It's a must for every hockey fan. Get it!
