The Blue Jackets and Red Wings are two teams to watch out for if Jacob Trouba is traded by the Rangers.

The Jacob Trouba era in New York is coming to an end.

Trouba did not practice with the New York Rangers today or won’t play in their Friday night game against the Pittsburgh Penguins for roster management related reasons.

The Rangers are set to either trade or waive Trouba and there are two teams that have been specifically linked to the veteran defenseman.

According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Columbus Blue Jackets are a team to watch out for in the Trouba sweepstakes.

“Hearing Rangers do have several options, but Trouba can block with his partial no-trade,” Friedman wrote. “Rangers have indicated they will waive him if he does not accept one. One team is believed to be Columbus.”

Meanwhile, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reported that a couple of people have their eye on the Detroit Red Wings as a destination for Trouba.

The Red Wings reportedly had interest in Trouba over the summer with a potential deal in the works, but it ultimately fell through.

There should be more news on Trouba’s status later on in the day.
