There has been mixed reporting surrounding Brett Berard's desire to remain with the New York Rangers long term.

According to Mollie Walker of The New York Post, Brett Berard is looking for a change of scenery.

Earlier in June, Kevin Weekes of ESPN reported that Berard could be on the move this summer.

However, Vincent Mercogliano and Peter Baugh of The Athletic report that Berard has not reuqested a trade, according to his agent Brian Bartlett.

After a promising 2024-25 campaign in which Berard played in 35 games, recording six goals, four assists, and 10 points, he did not make the Rangers’ opening-night roster out of training camp to kick off the 2025-26 season.

The 23-year-old forward played in just 13 games for the Rangers this past season, failing to record a point in the process.

Berard spent the majority of the 2025-26 campaign in the American Hockey League with the Hartford Wolf Pack, as multiple other prospects, including Noah Laba, Gabe Perreault, Jaroslav Chmelař, and Adam Sýkora, seemingly leapfrogged Berard on the depth chart.

Since being selected by the Rangers in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Berard has played in 145 AHL games, while playing in 48 NHL games.
