When asked about Jacob Trouba, Chris Drury did not dive into very much detail.

Jacob Trouba’s future with the New York Rangers remains in limbo.

There have been a number of reports indicating that the Rangers are ready to move on from Trouba.

Rangers general manager Chris Drury was asked about Trouba on Monday, but did not provide much of an update on the situation.

“Jacob plays hard every night, provides a lot of leadership for us,” Drury said via The New York Posts’ Mollie Walker. “Jacob knows what I think of him as a person and a player and I'm going to keep any private conversations I have with him or his agent keep it private.

“We're always looking to move the team forward and be the best team we can possibly be. I'm not going to go through player by player, who is going to be here, who is not going to be here. We're just trying to do the best we can in the offseason and put our best foot forward come training camp.”

The New York Posts’ Larry Brooks reported that there are apparently hurt feelings on the part of Trouba on how everything regarding his future with the team went public, which could have played a factor in Drury’s words when talking about the Rangers captain.

There was reportedly a deal being discussed that would send Trouba to the Detroit Red Wings, but it’s unclear if that trade is still in the works or not.

It’s been hours since the free agency period officially kicked off and Trouba has still not been moved, so it will be interesting to see what develops over the next couple of days.
