While being mentioned in trade rumors, Chris Kreider has also been laboring through some injuries.
New York Rangers general manager Chris Drury sent out a memo to all 31 NHL teams that he is open to trading Kreider.
Meanwhile, Kreider missed New York’s Monday night game with an upper-body injury and will not play tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes.
On Wednesday, Kreider revealed that he is dealing with back spasms which is why he hasn’t been able to play while also opening up about his injury struggles over the course of training camp.
“Back locked up on me – Sacrum. Few games back it was lumbar and then during training camp it was thoracic,” Kreider said via Mollie Walker of The New York Post.
Kreider’s chest injury did not cause him to miss any time during training camp. It went undetected by the media and general public.
The 33-year-old is listed as day-to-day and his status to return is still unknown at the moment.
Despite not practicing with the team since returning from their four-game road trip on Sunday, Kreider skated on Wednesday during the Rangers’ optional skate, indicating that he’s progressing well.
