New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider had some interesting comments to say following the team’s Game 1 loss to the Florida Panthers.
The Rangers lost 3-0 on Wednesday night as they were physically beaten up by a high-powered Florida team.
While Kreider did acknowledge New York’s poor play, he also touched on the low quality ice conditions at Madison Square Garden.
“This is not an excuse at all because we're both playing on the same ice,” Kreider said. “But the ice wasn't the best. But that's gonna be the case at this time of year.”
Yes, he did say that he wasn’t making any excuses for the loss, but this just seems like a strange thing to say after getting humiliated in front of your home crowd.
The Rangers don’t have time to worry about the state of the ice. They are down 1-0 in this series going into a must-win game on Friday night.
Even if the ice wasn’t in the best condition, which was probably the case, there is still no need to make this comment following a loss of that magnitude because it really only does Kreider and the Rangers harm.
If the Rangers came away with a victory in Game 1, Kreider most likely wouldn’t even be making these comments, so he shouldn't be making them after a loss either.
