1. The NHL.com (Wes Crosby) has projected the Rangers' starting lineup – in this case, the third and fourth lines – and he's come up with a shocker. Here they are and after you see them, gimme the shock treatment and tell The Maven why he's shocked.
2. Third Rangers Line: Gabe Perreault, Jonny Brodzinski, Jusso Parssinen. Fourth Line: Adam Edstrom, Sam Carrick, Taylor Raddysh.
3. Nu? So where's "The People's Choice," Matt Rempe? You can't tell me that with all the positive Rempe fuss since April that he's going to actually miss the starting lineup. No way, I say.
4. With all – and The Maven does mean ALL – due respect to the eminent Taylor Raddysh, he's not gonna bump my boy Rempe out of the lineup and then on to a Metro North Local to Hartford. (One more time, NO WAY!)
5. I dunno but maybe Wes Crosby did it as a wakeup call; but, Wes, I've been up three hours already; and I have my coffee. Gimme a break. (No, I take that back, give Matt Rempe a break, will ya!)
6. Sean McCaffrey on K''Andre Miller: "People forget that K ate a ton of minutes and rarely missed games. He wasn't the only one; everyone stunk last season."
7. More Sean: "I also believe that Miller is one of those guys who might never have worked out in New York but will work out once away from it. Pardon me, but it's also known as 'The Rangers Way.'"
8. Sorry, McCaffrey, Maven Roundtable executive George Grimm is right back at you, fella: "Regardless of how Miller performs in Carolinal, he was a liability in New York and the Rangers will be better off without him. He's Rod Brind'Amour's problem and one less issue Sully has to deal with in 2025-26."
The Twin Blueshirt Problems Which May Be Eluding Chris Drury
Chris Drury figured the one thing he had to fix after last season's treadmill to oblivion was defense. And he was right.
9. What Tha, as in the comics:! Now, Sean demands a reply: (Who am I to deny him? After all, it's only my column.) Okay, McCaffrey, get this off your chest and then enough K'Andre, already!
10. "Miller," Sean concludes, "is a better version of Brady Skjei. Under Brind'Amour's system, K'Andre will flourish in Carolina!"
(Maven says: He should be so lucky!)
