While he participated in the Rangers' morning skate, Filip Chytil is still questionable for tonight's game as he continues to battle with an Illness.
The status of forward Filip Chytil is still unknown going into the New York Rangers’ Game 5 matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Chytil was out of the lineup since November with a concussion until he made his long awaited return for the Rangers’ Game 3 victory over the Hurricanes.
He recorded 12:02 minutes of ice time while playing on a line with Jimmy Vesey and Barclay Goodrow.
After a real solid performance, the 24-year-old went down with a mysterious illness which caused him to miss Game 4.
It was a good sign that Chytil was on the ice for morning skate today, but the New York Post’s Mollie Walker reported that he will most likely not be made available for tonight’s game.
“He practiced this morning. That's a real positive thing for our team. I'm going to keep any lineup decisions that I make to myself,” coach Peter Laviolette said per Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today.
If Chytil is unable to play, forward Jonny Brodzinski will most likely slide into that fourth line role. Brodzinski has seemed to leap frog forward Matt Rempe on the depth chart this series against the Hurricanes.
