Filip Chytil sustained a scary injury on Saturday night during the Vancouver Canucks’ 6-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
With the New York Rangers, Chytil had a history of concussions that hindered his potential and limited his playing time over the years.
The 25-year-old forward has already suffered at least four concussions during his time in New York that were documented.
On Saturday night, Chytil was hit from behind by Jason Dickinson. Chytil’s head collided with the boards and when he tried to get up, he fell back down before slowly making his way to the bench.
While Canucks coach Rick Tocchet didn’t dive into the specifics of Chytil’s injury, he didn’t seem overly optimistic when talking about it.
“It was a pretty bad hit so we’ll see how he is,” Tocchet said.
It appears as if Chytil sustained yet another head injury and possibly a concussion, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
The Rangers traded Chytil to the Canucks a few weeks ago in a deal that included J.T. Miller.
Chytil has shown flashes of a star in the making through his eight-year NHL career, but injuries continue to derail his track.
It’s unclear if Chytil will miss any time due to this recent incident.
