The Buffalo Sabres have announced that they have signed Georgiev to a one-year, $825,000 contract.
Georgiev split this past season between the Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks. In 49 games during the 2024-25 season, he posted a 15-26-4 record, an .875 save percentage, and a 3.71 goals-against average. Overall, it was a tough year for the 29-year-old.
During the 2023-24 season with the Avalanche, Georgiev made the All-Star Game and had a 38-18-5 record, a 3.02 goals-against average, and a .897 save percentage in 63 games. This was after he posted a 40-16-6 record, a .918 save percentage, and a 2.53 goals-against average in 62 games with the Avs in 2023-24.
Now, after landing this one-year deal with the Sabres, Georgiev will be looking to put together a much-needed bounce-back season.
In 129 games over five seasons as a member of the Rangers from 2017-18 to 2021-22, Georgiev posted a 58-48-11 record, a .908 save percentage, and a 2.94 goals-against average. His time with the Blueshirts ended during the 2022 NHL off-season when he was traded to the Avalanche.
