The Rangers are paying Matt Rempe because the brass has an idea that the Skating Giraffe can turn them into a winner.

The Maven thinks so and so does Matt's WHL buddy, super scout Jeff Rubenstein. With that in mind, here are five Maven tips for the Tall One.

1. Avoid suspensions at all cost. And don't even come close to even getting one. 

2. Talk to your elbows and tell them that they are not jackhammers. 

3. Remember, the boards are there to keep the puck in not to have a foe's head bashed in.

4. Don't give the referees any reason to get hissed off at you. Any?

5. Don't look for fights, especially against Mathieu Olivier.

6. Make that acreage just outside the opponent's crease your turf.

7. While there, cleanly screen the goalie. Do that and you'll have more than ten goals at the end of the season.
