Matt Rempe is now an honorary member of Jonathan Quick’s family.

Over the summer Matt Rempe moved in with Jonathan Quick and his family and he’s been loving every bit of his time in the Quick household.

“It’s been awesome,” Rempe said. “His kids are the best and Jaclyn, his wife, is unbelievable. His four-year-old Cash wants to fight me all day. It’s a lot of fun, you just go out there and catch frogs. I’m not very good at catching frogs,”

Rempe and Quick may be teammates with the New York Rangers, but now staying in his house, Rempe confessed that he feels like the veteran goalie’s eldest child.

Over the summer, the 21-year-old took fighting lessons with famous enforcer Georges Laraque and he is teaching those very same lessons to Quick’s four-year-old son, and believe it or not, the kid is learning fast.

“Oh yeah,” Rempe said on if he’s teaching Quick’s son some fighting tips. “He gave me a headbut the other day and I said ‘oh that’s a good one.’’’

The question is why did Rempe decide to live with Quick of all people given that they play entirely different positions?

The young enforcer has respect for Quick and all that the legendary goalie has accomplished in his career and he now gets an upfront look on how he conducts himself on a daily basis and that’s a special opportunity.

“He’s won Stanley Cups, he is a great mentor, unbelievable player.” Rempe said. “He has a plethora of knowledge and just to learn from everyday and do what he does. He is a Hall of Famer and it’s an unbelievable opportunity for me to learn from him and his family.”

Rempe has grown strong personal relationships with not just Quick himself, but every member of the family.

“To be comfortable with the kids and Jaclyn is like a second mom to me, it’s really special,” Rempe said.

The plan for Rempe is to stay with Quick and his family for the entire season as it seems like a match made in heaven.
