Canucks president Jim Rutherford emphatically denied the trade rumors involving J.T. Miller.

Despite all of the trade rumors revolving around J.T. Miller, he will likely remain with the Vancouver Canucks.

According to The Athletic, the Rangers have inquired about the possibility of trading for Miller.

“A league source said the Rangers recently inquired with the Canucks about J.T. Miller, who is currently on an indefinite leave of absence,” Arthur Staple and Peter Baugh of The Athletic wrote. “Miller was a 2011 first-round pick by the Rangers and has been coveted by Drury before — the Rangers were after Miller before the 2021-22 trade deadline, but wouldn’t include Braden Schneider in a deal. Miller then signed a seven-year extension worth $8-million a year, pulling him off the market.”

Canucks president Jim Rutherford was disgusted by the thought of Miller being traded as he emphatically denied these rumors.

“No, we are not [trading him],” Rutherford told Postmedia. “We stand by him.

“Don’t start making stuff up on someone in his situation. That’s disrespectful. People that do this for fun, or for a living, just go back to making up trade rumours.”

Miller took an indefinite leave from the Canucks on Nov. 19 due to personal reasons and has not played since.

The 31-year-old had a career year last season as he recorded 37 goals, 66 assists and 103 points in 81 games.
