Throughout the summer Jacob Trouba’s name was thrown around in trade rumors and now that speculation is beginning to creep back into the public spotlight.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the New York Rangers have made it very clear they are interested in making moves and shaking up their roster with Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba’s names being indicated as potential options in a move.

Trouba is no stranger to these sorts of situations, so it was no surprise that he shrugged off the rumors when asked about it on Tuesday

“It doesn't really matter. I’m happy to be here, focused on playing hockey,” Trouba said. “You can’t really control that, I learned that throughout the summer. You kind of gotta block all of that out and focus on playing hockey with this group.”

The 30-year-old confirmed that he hasn’t talked to Rangers general manager Chris Drury as of right now.

He also feels there is no need to talk with him given that Drury is just doing his job and Trouba needs to do his on the ice.

“No, I think it’s just a part of the business,” Trouba said on if he needs to talk with Drury. “I don’t know if it’s real or not. My job is to play hockey and that’s what I’m focused on.”

With the Rangers reportedly ready to shake up their core, it’s obviously possible we see Trouba traded before season’s end despite the difficulties of trading a player who has a cap hit of $8 million at this point of the year.

Nonetheless, the Rangers captain expressed his love for New York and his desire to remain in The Big Apple.

“For me it’s a part of the game. I’m happy to be here,” Trouba said. “I love this group, love playing here.”
