With Free Agent Frenzy approaching, Jacob Trouba's future in New York will soon be revealed.

To Trouba or not to Trouba? That is the question – not Shakespeare's, but Chris Drury's.

While the Rangers general manager decides what to do with his' captain, Trouba has become a most divisive figure in Rangerville.

The Maven sees three sides to the sizzling story:

    1. Dump him already; 2. Keep him; 3. The ultra-secretive general staffs' decision is riddled with uncertainty.

The "Dump Trouba" bloc has delivered a high decibel count with the cogent comments. Such as: Jake isn't worth the big dough he's getting plus his game has deteriorated into a combination of needless penalties, glaring mistakes and only an occasional big hit.

Meanwhile, the less vocal "Keep Trouba" foundation argues that this soft Rangers squad needs as much toughness as possible and Jake the Rake IS tough. Therefore, the team needs him for his muscle.

From what I gather from my "as told to" impeccable sources, the "Keep Him Because He's Tough" filibusters have made some points. They argue that mistakes their hero made during the fateful playoffs were injury-related and let's leave it at that.

On a more personal note, it would be sad to see Trouba leave The Big Apple at this time because Mrs. Trouba still has a year left with her local medical studies.

Not that Downright Secretive Drury would let a little thing like a doctor's degree interfere with the Junk Jacob process.

Of course, William Shakespeare, that old sentimentalist, would have said, "Trade the bum" and then, tearfully, would write: "Parting is such sweet sorrow!"

Hey, even in The Bard's heyday, the media was tough!
