Jonathan Quick is not ready to retire just yet.
The 39-year-old goalie signed a one-year, $1.55 million extension with the New York Rangers on Wednesday morning.
The incentives on this new contract include a $550,000 signing bonus and $300,000 in potential performance bonuses.
Here are some of the specific performance-based bonuses:
- 20 starts w/ .915 sv% or above = $75k
- 35 games played = $25k
- 40 games played = $50k
- 20 wins = $50k
- 25 wins = $100k
As part of this extension, Quick also holds a modified no-trade clause, with the teams on that list currently unknown.
Quick signed with the Rangers during the summer of 2023 and has spent the past two seasons in a backup role behind Igor Shesterkin.
The two-time Stanley Cup champion earned himself a one-year $1.3 million contract extension last season with the Rangers.
Since arriving in The Big Apple, Quick has been a reliable backup, allowing Shesterkin to get the necessary rest he needs.
He’s revitalized his career in this new role, adapting from being a full-time starter to one of the premier backup goalies in the NHL.
Through the 2024-25 campaign, Quick has recorded a 9-6-2 record, 3.14 goals against average and a .896 save percentage.
