A sign-and-trade between the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes is close to being completed.

According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Miller will sign an eight-year, $60 million contract with the Hurricanes.

Friedman emphasizes that the Hurricanes looked at an offer sheet for Miller, and the two teams worked out a sign-and-trade instead.

Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today believes there’s a belief the Rangers will receive multiple picks from Carolina, including a 2026 first-rounder, with any potential players remaining unknown for now.

All of the official details of this trade still have not been released as of right now.

This evolving deal stems from the Rangers being unwilling to give the 25-year-old defenseman a long-term contract extension.
