The New York Rangers agreed on a two-year contract extension with Matt Rempe on Wednesday morning.
According to Mollie Walker of The New York Post, the deal is valued at an average annual value (AAV) of $925,000.
Larry Brooks of The New York Post also reports that Rempe has been in New York/Connecticut for the past couple of weeks, working with a skills coach.
Rempe was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1, but this new contract extension takes him off the board.
Since his arrival to the Rangers during the 2023-24 season, Rempe has become a fan-favorite due to his constant fighting and physical style of play.
This past season, the 22-year-old was sent up and down from the American Hockey League, but found a consistent spot in the Rangers’ lineup later on in the year while he also improved upon both his offensive and defensive skill sets, making him a more reliable option on the team’s fourth line.
