Expect a lot from Matt Rempe in his return to the Rangers' lineup.

Stan Fischler talks about Matt Rempe.

Rempe's back and the Rangers got him!

But what for? Ah, that's the question as The Skating Giraffe lines up against the Stars tonight in Dallas. The possibilities are endless. To wit:

1. He'll start a fight and that will spur the Blueshirts on to victory.

2. All 6-8 and 240 pounds of Matt wil screen the Dallas goalie, enabling power play goals.

3. He'll replace a useful player such as Jimmy Vesey, run all over the place, make the Stars dizzy enough to lose a game.

4. None of the above. He'll be lucky to get six minutes of ice time and justify being dispatched back to Hartford from whence he came.

Remarkably the most popular Ranger for two months at the end of last season, Rempe has – really when you think about – been literally and figuratively a big nothing.

But he is eager; he's well liked by his mates and he just might ignite them since nothing else has.

When you think about it, that's justification enough to have him around. Kings were known to have court jesters; why not the Rangers?
