As the New York Rangers open their first round series with the Washington Capitals, it was Rangers’ fourth line forward Matt Rempe who got Madison Square Garden rocking.

The Rangers’ fourth line of Barclay Goodrow, Jimmy Vesey and Rempe started a tic-tac-toe passing play, with the latter finishing at 4:17 to give New York a 1-0 lead.

The goal is Rempe's first career postseason goal in his first Stanley Cup Playoff game.

The forward had one goal in 17 games in the regular season.

After Rempe's goal, New York added two more to take a 3-1 lead into the second intermission. Artemi Panarin and Vesey, his linemate, added red lights in the period as well.
