Despite the Rangers' recent struggles, Peter Laviolette is not worried about his job security.
With the New York Rangers struggling, naturally Peter Laviolette is on the hot seat.
The Rangers have lost 10 out of their last 13 games as the team has officially reached its lowest point.
Despite all of the lineup changes Laviolette continues to make, nothing seems to be working, which has led to some speculation regarding Laviolette’s future in New York.
Laviolette is a veteran head coach though and confessed that he’s not worried about his job security.
“Those are things that I can't control. I've been in this a long time,” Laviolette said via Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today. “There's always those conversations wherever you go, especially if you've been in it for a long time. My real concern – the main concern – is getting a win tonight, getting back on track, getting back into the playoff race. Those are the things that we need to control and stay focused on.”
Larry Brooks of The New York Post reported that the Rangers’ hierarchy has no stomach to fire Laviolette after firing Gerard Gallant two years ago and David Quinn four years ago.
If the Rangers continue to slip in the standings, anything is possible and it seems that in the current NHL, no coach is safe no matter how accomplished they may be.
Whether it’s his fault or not, Laviolette is on the hot seat, so there is a lot of pressure on him to turn things around for the Rangers, or else major changes could be coming.
