Peter Laviolette threw the word precautionary when addressing Artemi Panarin's injury.

Artemi Panarin left the New York Rangers' Tuesday night preseason game against the New Jersey Devils with an apparent lower-body injury.

This marked the second preseason game Panarin exited due to an injury, which is concerning.

However, Rangers coach Peter Laviolette clarified postgame that the team was being precautious with their superstar forward and that he is being evaluated.

After he suffered a lower-body injury last week, Panarin missed one practice before coming back the very next day while emphasizing that he was ok.

“I thought maybe I should stay, but it’s preseason games, so try to be safe,” Panarin said last week.

The 32-year-old practiced without any limitations as he expressed his desire to play in another preseason game.

He exited yesterday’s game in the first period, playing for a very brief amount of time.

It’s still unclear if this was a continuation from the previous injury or this was just something new that started to bother him.
