Jack Roslovic announced as a healthy scratch, means Pete Laviolette is serious about rotating regulars before the playoffs start.

When the Rangers announced that Jack Roslovic would be "rested" tonight as a healthy scratch, it mean one thing:

Coach Peter Laviolette is serious about rotating specific regulars so that they are full of vim, vigor and vitality when the "Real" season begins.

Mind you, this is nothing new.

When Detroit mastermind Jack Adams ran the Red Wings in their early 1950's dynasty years, it was customary for The Boss to dispatch his Production Line stars Gordie Howe, Ted Lindsay and Sid Abel to Florida for late season rest and rehabilitation.

Canadiens managing director Frank Selke, Sr did the same with "The Babe Ruth Of Hockey," Rocket Richard.

But bear in mind that in those days of "Old Time Hockey," there were only six teams in the league and the playoffs contained only two rounds.

Nowadays, the playoffs are a war of attrition and -- oftentimes -- the healthier team reaches the final round and wins the Cup.

Resting Roslovic is only the beginning. There'll be more Rangers given an update version of R&R. Check the playoff results in a month and you'll know how well it worked for Lavvy.
