There's fury, anger and pain throughout the Village of Rangerville.
"What a lacklustre effort from a team that needs the points," writes a dismayed Bernard Rohde from Queens. "Another missed opportunity."
There's plenty more on X/Twitter. NYR Hockey observes, "The Rangers are the Chicago Blackhawks with Igor."
Or, The Garden Faithful rated the loss to Pitt, "The nail in the coffin."
"There have been a lot of BAD losses this year but this one hits me different," wrote Ryan Mead.
I credit my buddy Sean McCaffrey, publisher of Blue Collar Blueshirts. He never wavered in his pessimism about the team versus my optimism.
J.T. Miller looked like the answer to me and for a game or two, there were flashes of hope. Not McCaffrey who labels the Blueshirts "Chokers" and "Fat Cats," neither being words of endearment.
"The Rangers find a new way to lose," is the way Sean put it after Pitt spitted out the Rangers. "I felt last night's loss in my bones. I expected it,"
I didn't. I figured it for an easy two points backed by a determined group of Blueshirt skaters. Instead – well, you saw it.
McCaffrey: "I never felt the Rangers displayed an ounce of urgency or desperation."
Sean singled out Breadman Panarin and Mika Zibanejad, among the "No Shows," and Laviolette for giving Mika so much ice time with so little results.
"Fat Cats" and "Chokers" were among my pal Sean's other tags for his team
But for The Maven, the most shocking note came from a very long time, intense Ranger fan who rarely ever puts the knock on his team.
I did a double-take when I read his three-little words: "RANGERS WERE BRUTAL!"
Based on what we witnessed last night at MSG, I can only say: DENY THAT IF YOU CAN!
