Rangers Reportedly Closing In On Contract With Eeli Tolvanen

The New York Rangers are reportedly closing in on a one-year, $1.5 million contract with forward Eeli Tolvanen. 

After adding Pavel Dorofeyev, Oliver Bjorkstrand, and Joe Veleno, the Rangers were still reportedly looking for more forward depth and now add another middle-six forward with the addition of Tolvanen.

Tolvanen has seven seasons of NHL experience, playing for the Nashville Predators and Seattle Kraken, as he’s recorded 92 goals, 98 assists, and 190 points in 423 career games. 

During the 2023-24 season, Tolvanen scored a career-high of 23 goals, and he’s posted over 10 goals per season since becoming a regular NHL’er back during the 2020-21 campaign. 

This past season, the 27-year-old forward had 12 goals, 24 assists, and 36 points in 78 games, while averaging 16:03 minutes. 

In all likelihood, Tolvanen will play a bottom-six role for the Blueshirts, and similar to Bjorkstrand’s contract, the one-year term makes it easier for the Rangers to flip Tolvanen at the trade deadline if they aren’t pushing for a playoff spot.
