The Free Agent Frenzy is just over a week away and there’s more steam picking up linking defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov to the New York Rangers.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman has reason to believe that the Rangers may be one of the few teams Gavrikov would depart the Los Angeles Kings for.
“Among left shots, Vladislav Gavrikov is not believed to have a long list of places he wants to go if he leaves Los Angeles, which is why so many are pointing to the Rangers,” Friedman wrote.
This comes after a report from NHL insider Arthur Staple stating that if Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury can clear enough cap space, the team could look to go after Gavrikov.
K’Andre Miller has also been the subject of trade rumors with the Rangers gearing toward an overhaul of their defensive core.
The Rangers already traded Jacob Trouba and Ryan Lindgren during the 2024-25 season while adding Urho Vaakanainen, Will Borgen, and Carson Soucy.
Gavrikov has averaged over 20 minutes throughout every season since the 2021-22 campaign, the kind of stability the Blueshirts have been seeking.
This past season, the 29-year-old recorded five goals, 25 assists, and 30 points while averaging 23:05 minutes.
