Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports - Rangers Reportedly ‘Grinding’ On Contract Extension For Ryan Lindgren

The New York Rangers and Ryan Lindgren are reportedly making progress on a contract extension.

According to Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli, the Rangers are ‘grinding’ on an extension for Lindgren.

“The Rangers are also grinding on an extension for Ryan Lindgren, and his initial asks appear to be pretty reasonable,” Seravalli reports.

Lindgren is set to become a restricted free agent and the Rangers seem to be trying to lock him down before other teams have an opportunity to try and sway him away.

The Athletic reported that Lindgren would presumably be open to a longer-term deal while Evolving Hockey projects that a contract would most likely come in at $4.888 million per year.

This past season, the 26-year-old defenseman had three goals, 14 assists and 17 points.

The Rangers other free agents both restricted and unrestricted include Alexander Wennberg, Jack Roslovic, Erik Gustafsson, Chad Ruhwedel, Blake Wheeler and Braden Schneider.
