The New York Rangers have reportedly signed defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov to a seven-year, $49 million contract.

This contract will earn Gavrikov an average annual value of $7 million.

It’s been speculated for weeks that if Gavrikov hit the open market the Rangers would be the frontrunners to land him and those rumors only continued to pick up steam over the past couple of days.

The 29-year-old fills in a major need for the Rangers as he will almost certainly play a top-four role and could be paired with Adam Fox.

With the addition of Gavrikov, the Rangers have reportedly traded K’Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes.

This past season, Gavrikov recorded five goals, 25 assists, and 30 points in 82 games for the Los Angeles Kings while averaging 23:05 minutes.
