A Matthew Tkachuk roughing penalty led to the Rangers first power play. New York capitalized to take a 1-0 lead. Will Cuylle scored the goal, as he jammed home a rebound past Bobrovsky. K’Andre Miller passed the puck D-to-D towards Jacob Trouba, who took the initial shot that Cuylle rebounded in the dying seconds of the power play.

The Rangers led 1-0 after the first period. New York also controlled the shot department, 10-7.

Near the halfway point of the second period, Miller was denied on a shorthanded breakaway attempt by Bobrovsky. The score remained 1-0 after the big save from the Panthers netminder. Shortly after that save, Reinhart took over.

He scored finishing off a two-on-one play after Alexander Barkov made an incredible bat out of mid-air to get the puck to Reinhart who ripped the puck low past Shesterkin. Carter Verhaeghe made the lead pass to Barkov and was given the secondary assist at the 10:11 mark.

The game was only tied at one for 2:45 as Reinhart scored his second of that time frame. Gustav Forsling dumped the puck in, where Barkov and Reinhart connected on a sweet give-and-go play. Reinhart sniped this shot to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead.

Chris Kreider tied the game at two for the Rangers with 4:34 remaining in the second period. Panarin started with the puck on the half wall, before Trocheck shot it from the slot. Kreider walked around Bobrovsky to put home the rebound of Trocheck’s shot to even the game up at two.

Panarin’s assist was his 15th assist of the season.

The Panthers and Rangers were tied at two after 40 minutes. New York had three more shots than Florida again, this time leading 13-10.

6:11 into the third period after a Ranger turnover, Ryan Lomberg gave the Panthers their lead back. Forsling stripped the puck and smacked it forward towards Lomberg, who skated through the neutral zone and fired the puck into the back of the Ranger net, making it 3-2.

Anton Lundell iced the game for the Panthers by scoring the empty netter with an even minute on the clock. The goal moved the score to 4-2, which held as the final.
