New York Rangers coach Peter Laviolette confirmed that Ryan Lindgren will make his return to the lineup tonight.
Lindgren missed the first five games of the season with an upper-body injury.
This injury was sustained during the preseason after Lindgren fought with Scott Mayfield, which caused him to miss the remainder of training camp.
Lindgren has been practicing with a full face shield, indicating that he suffered some sort of facial injury.
Laviolette said that Lindgren will be paired alongside rookie defenseman Victor Mancini and opened up about how good it is to have him back in the lineup.
“He is a heart and soul guy, he plays hard,” Laviolette said. “Every single shift, every game, he brings everything he has. You remove a guy like that from the lineup and you feel it, so it will be good to get him back in there. His impact will be felt and will continue to get better the more he plays.”
Last season, the 26-year-old recorded three goals, 14 assists and 17 points in 76 games while averaging 19:21 minutes.
