Dennis Schneidler-Imagn Images1. There are a lot of amazing things about this Rangers' – shall we say – startling season. One of them is that they still CAN make the playoffs. (Just don't ask me why – or how.)
2. If you don't think Adam Fox misses Ryan Lindgren, imagine The Statue of Liberty without her Torch.
3. J.T. Miller is supposed to be the straw that stirs the drink. Lately J.T.'s play lately tells The Maven that he either needs a new straw or a short-beer. Or both!
4. A question I'd like one of the mainstream reporters to ask Peter Laviolette. "When do you think you lost this team?"
5. I'll give a wooden medal to anyone who can identify the Rangers "Identity." (That is, anything but "Country Clubbers.")
6. Credit Where Credit Is Due For Good Writing Department. This week's award goes to the Post's Mollie Walker re Rangers: "Their underwhelming efforts against top-tier teams have been disconcerting." Outstanding word, "disconcerting." Also, "underwhelming."
7. Too bad that The One And Only Matt Rempe missed the Toronto game. (You never know; he could have been a difference-maker.)
8. You can bet your bottom dollar that Chris Drury wishes that Tony DeAngelo was on the Rangers' blue line and not the Islanders.
9. After the Rangers horrendous non-effort against the Flames you would have thought Coach Lav would have ordered his whole team to the next day's practice. Instead it was an optional and the only star to show was Adam Fox. (Now you know what critics mean when they call this "a country club atmosphere.")
10. Buddy George Grimm defines the above another way: "No commitment, no leadership and no respect for the coach who they should know is in danger of losing his job."
11. Pal Jess Rubenstein puts it this way: "Until this team can win three or more games in a row, they will remain on the Local tracks."
12. At the beginning of the season, the Rangers were picked to finish second in the Metro and the Capitals fifth. The reason why Wash is on top? Coach Spencer Carbery.
13. Last but certainly not least, reader Bernie Rohde notes: "Stan Bowman is back in the league after his punishment. It's time to get Coach Q and bring Captain Serious too. He can show the boys how to play defense and get out of the zone with the puck. They have so many turnovers, they could open a bakery."
