Broadcaster Marty Glickman handled so many sports expertly in the 1940's and going forward that it's hard to remember his hockey work is in there too.

At one time Marty was the undisputed king of New York sportscasters, doing everything from Knicks basketball to Giants football and high school stuff as well.

Glickman worked out of radio station WHN-1050 on the dial which was the go-to station for the Rangers, Marty's childhood favorite.

He was Marv Albert's mentor, among many others, and also was called upon by cable guru Chuck Dolan to work with hockey production teams as well as individual game directors and producers.

"Marty was a genius at what he did," says The Old Scout, "because he tried  practically every sport there is and did them all well."

In New Jersey, he worked with SportsChannel's producer Jackie Lyons and was available for MSG Networks' Sam Rosen and John Davidson on the Rangers' shows.

"Martty's broadcasts were what made him famous," says The Old Scout, "but his behind the scenes work he did in terms of game production and helping the talent was equally valuable."
