Patience is a virtue – except when it comes to Igor Shesterkin's bigger than BIG Rangers contract that still hasn't been signed; and may never, for all we know.
(And why, pray tell, has the media – yeah, You, Elliotte Friedman – been so quiet about it? This break-the-bank melodrama demands noise.
How many of you Blueshirts fans out there remember when the majestic general manager Chris Drury promised everyone that he'd produce new pacts for dynamic star-in-the-making Alexis (Big Al) Lafreniere and Shesty.
"Forever Rangers" was the theme but Deliberate Drury is batting .500 so far and it's downright annoying.
We're miffed because we were told that if there was no deal by the season's start, then MUM would be the word until 2024-25 is over and done with.
We all know that THAT deadline is long gone. What we don't know is whether the two sides are still talking or should we keep guessing until spring?
The Maven has no idea what's going on; assuming that something IS going on between Drury and Iggy's mysterious agent Max Moliver.
Since we're now into November, my guess – and it's only a guess – is that Moliver-Shesterkin – will hold out until the season is over.
Should the Rangers – Hey! It could happen – win The Stanley Cup, I could see Slapsy Maxie Moliver demanding a stratospheric $14 million from the MSG National Bank; and it's 50-50 he'll get it.
But what if Shesty fails again, or is injured? As Thatcher Demko has proven in Vancouver, top goalies go down all over the place; and some never get up.
Then, all bets are off.
So, until Drury inks Iggy, the glorious GM is batting .500 – and that may be good enough for You, but not me!
