The Rangers may not be done making moves following the Kaapo Kakko trade.

The Rangers may not be done making moves following the Kaapo Kakko trade.

We all know that the Rangers skate on ice but these days they're also on pins and needles.

You'd have to have been prospecting for beefsteak on Mars not to know that the trade of "Whistleblower" Kaapo Kakko merely is the first of expected tectonic moves reshaping the franchise,

Considering that the club has plummeting from a 12-4-1 mark to a scary .500, anybody could be on GM Chris Drury's trade list and that goes for Breadman Panarin up front to Adam Fox on defense.

And while "panic" has been on the mind of some skeptics, the high command has been immovable – at least for now.

The addition of former Kraken defenseman Will Borgen may have ignited firecrackers of joy in his Moorhead, Minnesota home town,

With the club in Dallas for tomorrow night's bout with the Stars, nobody was doing handstands in front of The Garden with the exception of the Matt Rempe Marching and Chowder Society.

Rempe and defenseman Victor Mancini must be getting Amtrak discounts for their latest back-to-New York Hartford run.

For the umpteenth time, The Remper would like to nail down a starting role instead of the five-minute biff-bam-thank-you-Matt cameos.

"(Peter) Laviolette should once and for all cement Rempe on the fourth line and see what happens," says The Old Scout. "I have a hunch that Lavvy will do good by him this time."

What has the coach got to lose?

The big guns were silenced in Nashville where the well-wounded Predators won 2-0. And with The Breadman sidelined, there was no reserve support from fading Chris Kreider, Vincent Trocheck nor The Untradeable Mika Zibanejad.

Not that things can get any worse but Dallas, Carolina and New Jersey are next up for the Rangers before the Christmas break.

"True," concludes The Old Scout, "but a win or two over those 'Heavies' could be just the confidence-builder this team needs."
