The Rangers' Trade Deadline Strategy May Have Just Completely Shifted

The New York Rangers could be in some deep trouble.

During their 5-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Tuesday night, both K’Andre Miller and Adam Fox went down with injuries.

Miller’s came in the second period when he very quietly left the game without any clear moment of him getting hurt.

He was later ruled out for the remainder of the contest with a lower-body injury.

Adam Fox fell hard to the ice in the third period as he was laboring his left shoulder, clearly in pain before quickly rushing to the locker room.

He did not return and was ruled out with an upper-body injury.

If these injuries are serious, which is still unclear at the moment, Rangers general manager Chris Drury will have some big decisions to make.

The NHL Trade Deadline is less than two weeks away and the Rangers sit just two points out of a wild card spot.

If their intentions are to push for the playoffs and Miller and Fox were to miss time, Drury’s sights should be on the trade market to see if he can acquire a defenseman.

These injuries could impact Drury’s entire trade deadline strategy depending on if these two defensemen are expected to be out of the lineup for a substantial amount of time.

Originally the Rangers’ defensive core was their strong point, but now without Miller or Fox.

We will likely find out about the exact timeline of these injuries on Thursday during the team’s practice.
