There's been a lot of talk lately about the dysfunction going on in the New York Rangers’ locker room.
In somewhat of a surprise, the players haven't really denied the internal problems that have plagued the Rangers and the general mood of the team.
Chris Kreider said that it is pretty obvious there’s frustration, angst and tension.
Following the Rangers’ 4-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday, Jacob Trouba admitted that the group is going through some adversity right now.
“Something must be wrong in that room,” One director of player personnel said via Peter Baugh of The Athletic.
Meanwhile, The New York Post’s Larry Brooks shared a similar sentiment about the current dynamics and issues within the heart of the team.
“There's a lot of tension in the room, there's something off in the room.” Brooks said. “There's something off on the ice. There's something off in the mix…”
It’s very simple why the Rangers haven't been this big happy family.
Firstoff, New York is not playing up to the standard of a Stanley Cup contender as the team continues to become more and more frustrated.
On top of all of that, public word about Chris Drury’s desire to make a shake up to the core has gone public, which is clearly creating some sort of dissension given that names such as Kreider and Trouba are being thrown out there, two players who are important leaders for the Rangers.
Drury did reportedly meet with both Kreider and Trouba, so maybe that will clear the air and help the Rangers move past all of this trade drama.
Before the Rangers get their play back on track, it’s critical that they are united as a team in order to fully move forward.
