A look back at Rangers history from The Maven.

Did you know when the Rangers had more farm clubs than any team in the NHL?

Starting the 1948-49 season the Broadway Blueshirts boasted the following farm clubs.

1. New Haven Ramblers, American Hockey League.

2. St.Paul Saints, United States Hockey League.

3. New York Rovers, Quebec Senior Hockey League and Eastern Amateur Hockey League.

4. Tacoma Rockets, Pacific Coast Hockey League.

5. Lethbridge Native Sons, Alberta Junior Hockey Association.

6. Verdun Cyclones, Quebec Junior Amateur Hockey Association.

7. Guelph Biltmores, Ontario Junior Amateur Hockey Association.

8. Lake Placid Roamers, Lake Placid-Montreal International League.

9. New York Metropolitans, Atlantic Hockey League.

10. Sands Point Tigers, Jamaica Hawks, Manhattan Arrows and Brooklyn. Torpedoes, Metropolitan Hockey League.

Stan Fischler talks about Matt Rempe.

Which begs the question – how come the Rangers missed the playoffs in 1948-49?
