A fresh start with the Rangers has benefited Will Borgen.

It wasn’t a coincidence that Will Borgen was included in the Kaapo Kakko trade between the New York Rangers and Seattle Kraken.

With the Kraken struggling and Borgen seeing a decreased role in Seattle, he reportedly wanted to be traded.

“Will Borgen wasn’t playing, I think he wanted to be traded,” Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said. “He got his wish, he went to New York.”

Since joining the Rangers, Borgen’s minute averages went from 15:12 to 18:37, a significant increase.

Through 11 games in New York, the 28-year-old defenseman has recorded one goal, one assist and two points.

He’s been paired alongside K’Andre Miller over most of his time with the Blueshirts thus far.
