Will Cuylle has been rewarded with an increased role.
With Filip Chytil out with an upper-body injury, Cuylle will take his spot on the second unit of the power play.
Cuylle joined Reilly Smith, Zac Jones, Kaapo Kakko and Alexis Lafrenière on the second power play unit during Sunday’s practice.
Peter Laviolette has been happy with Cuylle’s play recently and feels that the young forward earned this promotion.
“He’s had a really strong start to his year,” Laviolette said via The New York Post’s Mollie Walker. “I do see him as somebody who is probably eventually going to be a regular on a power-play unit, but we’ve got guys who have been there and those decisions are tough to make. He should get some time tonight out there."
Through 15 games, the 22-year-old has recorded five goals, six assists and 11 points while averaging 13:42 minutes per game.
