Danny Wild-Imagn Images - Will Cuylle Has A "Quiet Confidence" About Himself

Will Cuylle is a forward on the New York Rangers with an extraordinary amount of potential.

In his rookie campaign last year, Cuylle flashed some of what he is capable of and had an impressive season where he recorded 13 goals, eight assists and 21 points in 81 games.

Now, the 22-year-old is on pace to smash his rookie year numbers as he currently has four goals, five assists and nine points in 13 games.

It’s more than just his stats that have shown out about his individual performance.

Cuylle is playing with a confidence that we didn’t even see from him last season. It’s been truly fun and exhilarating to watch.

He’s been serving a critical two-way role with his emergence on the penalty kill and increased offensive production.

Standing at 6’3’’, Cuylle is using his big frame both offensively and defensively, making him a dangerous player.

There is just a mindset that Cuylle has in his arsenal, something Peter Laviolette has taken notice of.

“He’s a guy that I found is really detailed about his game,” Laviolette said. “I think there is maturity with that. Being able to handle yourself in your rookie year in a locker room filled with veterans, there is a maturity that comes with that as well.

“The way is off the ice, the way he is at practice, the way he handles his business, it’s almost like a quiet confidence in what he’s doing.”

Being around Cuylle, it’s clear how mature he is as a young man and that ultimately translates to his play on the ice.

At his current rate of progression, Cuylle has a chance to transform into one of the Rangers’ most explosive forwards if he isn’t already.

He plays a perfect brand of hockey and the Rangers are surely lucky to have him.
