The "Put A Banner Up For Chris Kreider" bloc simply doesn't know what it's lobbying about because it doesn't know Rangers history like The Maven.
There's a legion of bygone stars on the banner list, far ahead of Kreider who never played for a Cup-Winner.
One such individual who was instrumental in the Rangers 1940 (Third) Cup victory was goalie Davey Kerr who had played in every Blueshirts game for the fifth consecutive season and then starred in the six-game series Final win over Toronto.
Kerr figured to be a Ranger forever but when – after the Cup triumph – he asked boss Lester Patrick for a modest raise, The Boss refused.
And without further ado, Kerr kissed the Rangers good-bye – never played in the NHL again – although he had at least three good goaltending seasons left in him!
Patrick's money talked and Davey Kerr walked!
