Rangers target Jake Guentzel is gone to the Canes -- as well, Adam Henrique was sent to the Oilers.

It's D-(as in Deal) Day For The Rangers: Could Sidney Crosby Become a Blueshirt?

Since his Team's immediate future -- and maybe his job -- depends on it, I hope Chris Drury winds up getting Frank Vatrano before the bell goes and Trade Deadline Day is over.

That is, if he can't somehow figure out how to release Sidney Crosby from the pathetic Penguins.

The Maven's Very Personal Poll in Rangerville has ex-Blueshirt Frank Vatrano as "The People's Choice" among players still likely to be moved before H-Hour today.

Vatrano is my choice because I like everything about his game. He's a productive goal-scorer (29 in 62 games) and not a bad playmaker (20 assists). Plus, The Vatman is having a career year -- and he's a known product.

That is, I can visualize him on a line with old pals Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider exchange with whom he did very well, thank you.

Because there's always a morning calm before the storm the automatic fan reaction is to expect a super-duper -- a la Lou Lamoriello -- surprise multiplayer exchange. But since Lou's club is on a five-game winning streak I don't expect him to disrupt the chemistry.

Back to the Rangers who, so far, have struck out in the Jake Guentzel -- gone to the Canes --Derby as well as Adam Henrique heading to the Oilers.

For my dough the best move Drury could make -- better even than promoting Matt Rempe -- would be to squeeze Crosby away from the putrid Penguins. Now or this offseason.

The way Pittsburgh's franchise has slipped, the Penguins won't make the playoffs for another two years; which might well be retirement age for Sid.

Not that anybody "deserves" to be on a playoff team, but The Maven will make an exception for Sid.

If the Blueshirts were able to land Wayne Gretzky, Crosby on Seventh Avenue is not an impossibility!.
