Lazarus: Vincent Trocheck's Regular Season Point Total Prediction

Now that Vincent Trocheck has become accustomed to life as a New York Ranger, after having a solid first season with the team, can he take an even bigger leap in year two?

In his first season as a Ranger, Vincent Trocheck tallied 22 goals and 42 assists for a total of 64 points in all 82 games. This was the second-highest amount of points that Trocheck has recorded in a single season (the most was 75 in 2017-18 with the Florida Panthers) so it is encouraging to think that he can surpass this number in the 2023-24 season.

Trocheck was a part of a ton of different line combinations this past season, but the one steady player that he shared the ice with was Artemi Panarin. It can be assumed that Trocheck and Panarin will be paired together yet again, but as of right now, it is very unclear who the right winger on their line would be.

There has been a ton of chatter this offseason about the potential of Trocheck being moved down to the third line, which I personally am in favor of.

Mike Rupp spoke with Steven Pappas of Forever Blueshirts and stated "If this team can ever get to the point where line two has Laf as left winger and a third line with Vinny Trocheck and Chris Kreider, now you're cooking with gas. Who's going to match up with that?"

Trocheck is one of the many "what ifs" going into the 2023-24 campaign. The biggest what-if for him is how much ice time he is going to get on the first power play unit. Last season, Trocheck saw a ton of action with the first unit that typically has Adam Fox, Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, and Chris Kreider, but with Blake Wheeler in the picture now, Trocheck might not have that spot again.

The power play played a very significant role in Trocheck's offensive production in 2022-23. He tallied nine goals and eight assists on the man-advantage for a total of 17 points. Keep in mind that Trocheck tallied 13 even-strength goals last season.

Trocheck only recorded one single point in the seven-game series against the New Jersey Devils, which was very disappointing after the regular season he had. With that said, I think Trocheck could be a 70-point player for the Rangers, but considering that I don't know where he stands yet under Peter Laviolette, I'm not all that confident that his production will increase.

My prediction for Trocheck is to finish with 53 points (17 goals, 36 assists).
