The Rangers can clinch a playoff berth with a win against the Flyers tonight, or with some help from the Capitals. Ryan Lindgren and Jacob Trouba appear to be getting closer to returning.

Stan Fischler On Rangers Cup Chances

The New York Rangers have the chance to be one of the first teams to clinch a spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Rangers currently sit in first place in the entire NHL with 98 points in 71 games.

Here's how they can clinch:

-With a win in any fashion over the Philadelphia Flyers tonight at the Garden!

-With one point and a Detroit Red Wings loss in any fashion to the Washington Capitals.

-Or a Red Wings regulation loss, regardless of the result of the Rangers game, would seal the deal as well. Puck drop is at 7 PM ET in Washington.

BLUE LINE UPDATE:

To add to the positives for the Blueshirts, it was reported that both Jacob Trouba and Ryan Lindgren took part in today's optional practice.

Although both were seen in regular jerseys, it is important to note that the Rangers confirmed that players DO NOT wear non-contact jerseys for optional practices.
