It still boggles my mind that Marvin Aufrichtig, the son of a Brighton Beach grocer, eventually became Marv Albert sportscaster par excellence. That same Albert became a family broadcasting patriarch after breaking in with Rangers radio in 1967. Marv was handling Rangers home games for WNEW Radio. (He had been with the Rangers since 1967.) Marv's kid brother, Steve, was play-by-play commentator for SportsChannel and also doing Devils games in 1982-83. Mid-brother Al Albert did NHL games for USA Network and also teamed with The Maven to do Devils games for SportsChannel.
