The weekend is the perfect time to reflect on a busy week in Sens Nation.

The first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs is nearly at an end. And for many Senators fans, the basic instinct to cheer against the Toronto Maple Leafs, their arch-rivals, is deep in their blood.

For about 15 years, in a previous life as a morning host at TSN 1200 radio in Ottawa, we revelled in the Battle of Ontario rivalry to the point where I couldn't even utter their name on the air. They were just the Blue Team.

From there, we monitored their demise with the Blue Team Elimination Watch, a tradition that continues to this day on the Sens Nation Podcast. After Toronto lost in Game 7 to Boston on Saturday night, and in advance of our next podcast episode, here's this year's BTEW finale.

Some site news: The Hockey News Ottawa is pleased to announce that the month of April, even though the Sens were out, set a record for website views. Thank you, Sens Nation!

In other articles we're had over the past seven days, the discussion about the Senators' coaching vacancy continues to heat up:

  • Claude Julien confirmed on radio that he'd be open to it.
  • The Penguins were firing coaches in the organization like crazy this week. What if Mike Sullivan became available?
  • Senators interview Travis Green
  • Where do things stand with the coaching search?
