After a dominant performance in Tuesday night's home opener, the Philadelphia Flyers are back at Wells Fargo Center Thursday night with the challenge of facing off against the Edmonton Oilers.
The Oilers dropped their first two games of the season to the Vancouver Canucks — the first of which was an 8-1 rout in their season opener. However, they finally picked up their first win with a 6-1 thumping of the Nashville Predators Tuesday night. Despite the slow start, the Oilers are a very dangerous club with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl in the fold, and the Flyers are very much considered underdogs going into the tilt.
Here's everything to know ahead of puck drop.
When: 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: Wells Fargo Center
Radio: 97.5 The Fanatic
TV: ESPN+, Hulu
1. Morgan Frost is expected to watch his teammates from the press box once again after being scratched for the Flyers' home opener on Tuesday. Frost failed to register a point in the Flyers' first two games of the season, and with youngsters Bobby Brink and Tyson Foerster both playing well, the first-round pick from 2017 is, for the time being, the odd man out. His next opportunity to return to the lineup comes Saturday when the Flyers take on the Dallas Stars on the road.
2. Despite scoring his first NHL goal and putting together a strong overall performance in Tuesday's home opener, defenseman Egor Zamula will join Frost in the press box as a healthy scratch. Filling in for him will be 21-year-old defenseman Emil Andrae, who remains part of the Flyers' defenseman rotation with Rasmus Ristolainen still on injured reserve. Andrae made his NHL debut Saturday against the Ottawa Senators, logging 16:27 of ice time and a minus-1 rating. He'll have his hands full with McDavid and Draisaitl in town.
3. Carter Hart was outstanding against the Canucks Tuesday night, and he'll need to be even better against the Oilers. Through three starts, Hart owns a 2.35 goals against average along with a .922 save percentage.
